SET OF SIX WOODEN DINING CHAIRS

Designed by Luca Meda in the 1970s, a Milan-based designer whose work sits at the disciplined crossroads of Italian craft and European rationalism. Meda trained at the Brera School of Art in Milan and later at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Ulm — the most rigorous design institution in postwar Europe. These six chairs show that level of thinking clearly: solid wood construction, clean joinery, a subtly reclined back that actually accommodates the body, and proportions that read as neither heavy nor sparse. They function equally well as a full dining set or separated into pairs across different rooms. An under appreciated designer whose work from this period continues to rise.
