TURNED HARDWOOD FORM

A massive solid wood form, lathe-turned with real intention — stacked rings rising through a waisted collar to a full, weighty ovoid crown. The profile is immediately legible: it reads like an oversized chess pawn, or a fragment of some grander architectural language. Whatever its original purpose, what remains is pure sculptural object.

Carved from a single piece of dense hardwood, it has the heft and gravity of something made to outlast its maker. The surface has darkened over a century or more into deep walnut and ebony tones, warm amber surfacing where the grain catches light. Cracks, worn edges, and the smooth polish of age are all present — none of it damage, all of it time. On a floor, a plinth, or a low cabinet it anchors a room without effort. The kind of object that makes everything around it look more considered.
