SOHOLM CERAMIC TABLE LAMP

A stoneware table lamp by Søholm Stentøj of Bornholm, the bulbous base narrowing to a slender neck and decorated with an embossed relief band of organic motifs in warm sandy tones of ochre, grey and brown. The glaze is matte and speckled, the surface alive with the kind of quiet variation that comes from hand production. Søholm's designers in this period brought a painter's sensitivity to the studio's stoneware output. Fitted with a clean white conical shade. A modest, entirely resolved object that gives warm, directional light.
