A wheel-thrown stoneware cup in the Oribe tradition, the body covered in a deep, matte olive-green glaze interrupted by bold sweeping brushstrokes in iron oxide. Oribe ware is easily recognizable by its distinctive green glaze and iron underglaze decoration, a tradition with roots in the tea masters of the Momoyama period. The form is a low yunomi, wider than it is tall, the walls tapering gently inward toward a small turned foot
