S.C.A.L. DAYBED

The S.C.A.L. daybed by Jean Prouvé, produced by Ateliers Jean Prouvé, France. Black lacquered metal frame with a tufted mattress and cylindrical bolster in deep navy fabric. One of Prouvé's most enduring and widely collected designs, the S.C.A.L. was produced for institutional and residential use across France and for the Cité Cansado housing project in Mauritania — where it was deployed alongside furniture by Charlotte Perriand as part of one of the most significant exercises in total mid-century design. The frame is original; the mattress and bolster have been newly upholstered.
