OAK STOOL WITH GREEN LEATHER SEAT

Just a simple four square-section oak legs, two plain stretchers, one leather seat. Nothing added, nothing unnecessary. The joinery is tight and workmanlike, the proportions just right: low enough to tuck under a table, substantial enough to stand alone. The kind of object that was made to be used without a second thought, and has quietly become beautiful because of it.

The seat is the detail that makes it. A gently saddled pad in deep forest green leather — darkened and worn across the crown where it has been sat on most, lightening at the edges where it has seen less friction. The colour sits somewhere between bottle green and slate, shifting with the light. Against the warm tawny oak of the frame, it is an unexpectedly considered combination — the kind that only happens by accident and age.
