INSTITUTIONAL LOCKER

A three-section slatted pine institutional locker retaining its original layers of paint, a worn sage green over earlier blue. The surface is cracked and lifting in a way that reveal the layers beneath. Each section is fitted with its original name plate at the top, iron strap hinges, drop-pull hardware, and a hook for hanging within, confirming its life in a school, barracks, or factory cloakroom where each compartment was assigned to an individual. The slatted pine doors allowed airflow while the raw darkened pine interior remains fully intact. A piece that carries both the graphic severity of its construction and the quiet humanity of those name plates.
