CANSADO BENCH

The top is composed of evenly spaced wood slats extending the full length of the table, interrupted by a sliding black laminate section incorporating a single drawer. The whole rests on four slender painted metal legs. Painted steel and wood combined in that clean, functional manner that came to define her post-war work, the table sits at the intersection of her machine age rigour and the warmer, material sensibility she developed after her years in Japan and Southeast Asia. An important piece from one of the 20th century's defining design figures.
